What to do When No One is Watching my Youtube Videos

You spent hours filming your videos, and then hours editing your videos.  You were trying to provide the best values and you know people out there can benefit from watching your videos.  However, when you posted your video on YouTube, it was just cricket.

Then you waited for hours and went back to your channel multiple times to see if you gained any more views, but it just seemed like no one was watching.

I am guessing you are googling right now to see “how to increase views”, or “what to do when no one is watching my YouTube videos?” in the hope of finding some magic answers or formulas to solve this problem.

There are 4 things you can actually do when no one is watching your YouTube videos.  And I would like to share them with you here.

  1. Don’t worry about the views right now.
The more you care about your views right now, the more you might feel bad about yourself.  Views are outcome-driven and sometimes you just can’t control the outcomes.  So for right now, just temporarily, for the sake of your mental health, let go of caring about whether anyone is watching your video or not.
  2. Focus on what you can actually control.
Since you can’t control the outcome, you get to really focus on what you can actually control—that includes studying what works and does not work for thumbnails, improving your thumbnail design, improving the way you design titles, learning about enticing storytelling methods or taking your editing skill to the next level.  There are skills you can continue to get better and better.  How that translates is—in the long run is that your videos will also get better and better, and your views will naturally increase.
  3. Improve your SEO
YouTube is powered by Google.  The algorithm naturally can learn what your video is about by your title, your video content, and your video descriptions.  Therefore, taking the time to understand what your audience might be searching for and incorporating that into your video description will have a higher chance for your audience to find your video.
  4. Your video views do not define who you are as a person.
Early on in my YouTube journey, I often felt defeated when no one was watching my videos.  I felt like “I must be terrible that’s why no one’s watching my video.”  I am very lucky that I have family around me that reminded me that I was still a good person…no matter if anyone was watching my videos or not.  To be good at YouTube means that you have to be at a lot of things—like being a good writer, storyteller, camera person, editing, directing, lighting, charisma, sound effects, and public relations.   That’s A LOT to expect from yourself!!  So for now, give yourself some grace to know that no matter what, you are worthy, and you can always give yourself space to learn and grow on YouTube.

So that’s my four tips for you when you feel like no one is watching your Youtube Videos. How about you?  What do you do when no one is watching the videos you created?  How do you cope with that? Or what do you try to do differently to increase views?  Please comment and share 🙂
